A Start.... Empty
PostSubject: A Start....   A Start.... EmptyFri Jun 24, 2011 9:01 am

A pink tongue trailed over her top lip before rolling down along her bottom lip as she licked away the remains of a whipped pastry she had purchased for a few silver from a nearby vendor. Considering she had to find three strawberries for the chef to even cook them for her, she thought she should have gotten a discount. She wasn't particularly worried about money but she was stingy with her silver and exactly who she gave it to. A long-nailed came to her lips, which she flicked the pink muscle of her tongue over it to suck away any of the remains. She lazily looked to the right, pale green eyes following several vendors that were searching for a few items that they had been hired to gather by some adventurers. She rose a cinnamon leg to tuck over the other as she arched a snow-white brow. "It must be nice to be a peasant." She muttered with a sleepy yawn that caused her eyes to momentarily water before she finally pushed herself off the brick wall she had been leaning on. Adjusting her hat, straightening the feathers adorned on it with her fingernails, she went off to go to the bank.

As was her usual habit, she planned to check her on stored money and items in the usual vault before depositing a bit more money. Her movements were elegant, with several eased, swaying movements of her hips that took her across the city in a speedy pace, the strings of the tied knots at the base of her hips trailing behind her.

Twin swords are left on either side of her hips, the metal lightly clicking together as her walking went into something that resembled skipping. Entwining her fingers behind her back, she happily made her way through the town, dodging people that happened to run across her path with an easy twirl around.

On a bench beside the fountain in the small square, a young Bard sat and played some merry little tunes. She had gathered a small crowd, mostly children and their parents with a few adventurers thrown into the mix. She, too, was an adventurer, but after some hard work at the Avila Volcano, she had come to Aven to relax. She loved playing for a crowd; watching their faces light up as magic and music became one and floated into the midmorning sky.

The bard's outfit was ornate and bright, with pastel pinks and blues tastefully trimmed with gold and light yellow. Her feathered hat ws tilted jauntily to the side, the feathers dancing in the light breeze that blew across the square. Her hair was bobbed at an angle and fairly short. She didn't like her hair getting in her face during an intense fight, as many people put their lives into her skilled, nimble hands and her jovial guitar, perfectly tuned at all times through constant diligence and care. Her eyes were a dark purple, yet still appeared bright as the sky as she sang to the crowd. Resting lazily on the grass beside her was an alpaca, who was quite used to all this crowd nonsense and was indifferent to the children who came to pet his fur or lean against him.

Her music wafted over the crowd and provided a pleasant background for the people to go about their daily lives. The crowds even looked happier and more lively with the delicate notes drifting into their ears. She knew she wouldn't get a huge crowd, since many people had jobs to do and places to go, but she still enjoyed playing. Even if there hadn't been a small crowd, she still would've been playing on the fountain bench, knowing her music was still being loved by those in the square.

She lifted up the clear glass bottle, swishing the purple liquid around. Placing it down she picked up another one like it, with a musty green liquid. It joined the other bottle as began thinking, her finger placed against her lips. A soft breeze ruffled her light orange hair and parts of her purple robes. Norallyn couldn't decide which potion to get, her experiment only required one.

Maybe I'll get both and make note of the different outcomes. she thought to herself.

"Excuse me Miss. Are you going to buy one or not, I have more customers to see to."

The mage glanced at the old man before going back to the bottles. There weren't any people at this shop besides her anyway. Sighing in boredom she decided on getting both of them, in hopes of getting the desired results. An alchemy lab had to be in this city somewhere, her usual one had too much clutter. Placing her silver in the man's hand she gently placed the bottle in her knapsack, making her way towards the heart of Aven. The gentle sounds of the fountain tickled her ears, but then another sound invaded her ears.

What is that horrible sound!? It can't be..?

Norallyn's question was answered the moment her eyes fell upon a bard and then the people around her. She couldn't believe people could ever like the disgusting noise called music. Sighing for the second time today she decided not to let it get to her. Passing the fountain without giving the bard another glance, she made her way to the Bank. The other ingredients she needed were, hopefully, being carefully stored. But what was she suppose to expect from someone better off being a guinea pig. Taking her items without even giving the banker her attention Norallyn began her search for a lab to get started.

As the bard Jilianna picked up the pace on her guitar, causing some of the crowd to sway and dance, a young woman brisked walked through the square, carrying a clinking basket in one hand, a bag in the other, and a backpack and staff on her back. Her black and yellow robes were definitely those of a mage, although her innocent face looked better suited to a Cleric or Bard. Her pine green eyes were focused yet elsewhere, her feet taking her directly where she needed to go after years of knowing the city. Her shoulder-length light brown hair seemed rather disheveled, although the wind picking up could've played a role.

She passed by the Bard absently, a quick glance and momentarily thoughts of "that's pleasant" and "I think I've seen her before" her only recognition. Jili was used to this, especially since she recognized the mage from elsewhere and knew she was a fellow adventurer, so she took no offense. There was an older mage in the square who was obviously not enjoying herself, but she was obviously a sourpuss and Jili just turned up the music to annoy her. The younger mage passed by her elder without a single care, bee-lining towards the Alchemist's lab to make her potions before heading off again.

The journey to the bank was becoming an annoying one. She waved away the third traveling merchant who had tried to offer her some questionable merchandise. Henra was nearly tempted to just report the person and have them investigated by a guy but considering she sometimes purchased items from these merchants, it wouldn't do if they were all in jail. Catching sight of the bank in the distance, he lips upturned into a pleased smile. "Light at the end of the tunnel." She said with a small laugh to follow. A momentary pause stilled her quick form in the midst of her momentary pleasure, turning her body towards the sound of poignant notes that filled the air. At the current, her appearance resembled that if the thief with her dual swords hooked on her hips, causing people to shift away her a bit nervously. Despite that, she wondered if she should walk over and see who was playing all that music. A lovely tune, it was. She bet a pair of an experienced fingers were responsible for that. Artist were often her preference of company. Glancing up at the bank then looking back towards the found in the central area of the town. The crowd that was developing ended up leaving her in distaste though, "I'll go back when the crowd has thinned out."

Turning sharp on her heel, she continued on her way to the bank. The smell of strong chemicals was left in a trail along the way that made her noise scrunch up in light distaste. Trying to wave the smell away as she made her way to the bank and informed the banker of which account she owned. Showing her verification which was a metal, branded stamp which he accepted and brought out a large box of silver and several precious stones that she had stored. As always, she counted over them, making sure everything was there before she added half the money she had in her bag inside and throwing a few more stones. Satisfied, she told the banker he could lock it away before she left.

Returning to the sound of the music in the center of the city before the sight of hair the color of the burning sun was seen from the corner of her eye. She glanced up to see the burning gold hair of a traveling mage which made her brows arch high. "Oh?" She questioned to herself. It was rare to see people with unique hair like her own. Henra's hands momentarily reached up to play with a fluffy, piece of white hair. She hummed lightly to the sound of the music, rocking a bit with a pleased laugh. She had to admit, she had a weakness for music. Deciding it against her better judgement, she pushed through the crowd to get to the source of the music. Henra gave a loud clap as soon as she got through, "Splendid music!'

(That works. XD Lapita and Nora can get acquainted, presuming Nora figures out that they're going to the same place.)

Jilianna looked up at the source of the commotion, not breaking stride in her songs at all. She altered them a tad to calm the crowd from their little dancing bout, and smiled at the white-haired newcomer. "Why thank you, miss." She said politely, used to these types of complements, although she had received fewer than normal today. She didn't mind them, they just got annoying after a while. She didn't need praise or fame or anything; she just liked playing music and helping others feel better. However, this particular person seemed a little different than the usual admirers. Still keeping her tune going, she asked., "So, what's your name? Or alias; fine with either one."

[Sorry for my slight lateness. Class decided to give me homework.]

Norallyn hurried towards the Alchemy labs, she had seen another mage headed there out of the corner of her eye. Even if the other person was a mage like her, there was no way she would share. Her pace quickened as the building came into view. All the windows were closed, but the roof hatches were open to release the fumes of various chemicals.

"Ah Lady Norallyn it's so nice to see you again. It has been quite a while since you decided to visit."

The mage stopped in her movement and did a small bow to the older magician. He had known her parents when they had been alive, since their lab used to be close by. Straightening up she entered the building without saying anything to him. There was no time to talk, she had to get this experiment finished so she could leave again. The city was one of her most hated places to go.

Oh Bugger.

There standing at one of the tables was the mage. Muttering to herself Norallyn set her bag on the farthest table from the other. Carefully she emptied it of it contents: two liquids, three empty bottles, five red potions, five blue potions, and some rootstalk she acquired from the Wetlands. Gingerly she poured equal amounts of her newly purchased liquids into the empty bottles.

I won't let anything, especially the mage distract me. I've getting closer to the notes, little by little.

The younger mage was swift, but careful. She had her ingredients neatly arranged and sorted, and most of them appeared to be the common ingredients for standard healing and boosting potions, often used by avid adventurers. And she did mix up several potions of the like in a heartbeat, pouring them into flasks for later use and putting them in her backpack. However, she did have a unique set of ingredients from all over the continent, several quite dry, as if she'd had them for a while. Blue crystal dust from Limestone, Angelly extract from Tranquil, Prismata water from Rainbowfall, Drake scales from Goss, crushed crab shells from Beluga, lost runes from Wetlands, and magic essence from the Valley. There was even a vial of blood from the fierce Avila drakes and rose monster petals from Golden Plains, which she certainly didn't look strong enough to get. She didn't even look strong enough to get most of the unusual ingredients, but somehow she did.

After making her potions, she took out a rather unique wide-necked lavender flask, carved bowl, and a rune-covered mortar-and-pestle set from her bag. She poured the water into the flask and set it over a burner to simmer. Pulling out a piece of paper, she slipped the crystal dust and crushed shells into the mortar, blending and crushing them into a fine blue-grey power, then poured it into the bowl. She looked over the paper, which appeared to have instructions written in an ancient language on it, and poured the blood into the bowl, stirring it with a glass stirring rod nearby, forming a cold green paste. She broke down the drake scales into smaller pieces, then added those and the petals into the flask, causing the mixture to sizzle and spark. Remaining unfazed, she added the runes and magic essence to the paste, and at first there appeared to be no reaction. She looked down at the paper, re-read a section a few times, then began to chant some unusual phrases, holding the side of the bowl with one hand and partially covering it with the other. The runes on the bowl began to glow, and at this point even the old alchemist was peering in to see what she was doing. Wispy shimmering teal smoke began to rise out of the bowl, and the mage directed it into the flask, where the scale and petals had dissolved, leaving an orange liquid. Once the smoke was inside the flask, it crystallized and dissolved into the mixture, turning it a deep blue-green. After no more smoke came out of the bowl and all the smoke had crystallized and dissolved, she removed her hands and ceased chanting, discarding the harmless grey power the paste had become into the trash. She stoppered the mixture and gave it a few good shakes, making sure it kept its color. She then cleaned up her borrowed equipment, placed the unknown potion and instructions inside her bag, and began to leave.

Wait those ingredients.

Norallyn wasn't too sure how that girl got those items. Since it would take Norallyn a while to even acquire a fraction of them. She couldn't deny that she wanted to ask the other mage, but her pride got in the way. Without a second glance at the mage she finished her mixture and put a stopper in the bottle. Reaching into her pack she pulled out a small purple velvet pouch, gingerly she put the bottle in the pouch. Tying the gold strings together it was returned to her pack. Other items soon followed and her mind was still filled with the same question.

How did she get those items? If I ask she could possibly retrieve some for me.

Taking in a large breath Norallyn tied her pack around her waist and left the building. Looking around she tried to spot the other mage, sighing rubbed her forehead in frustration. No wonder she hated this place, there was no way to find anyone. Making her way back to the fountain and by the... Bard, she made sure to drop her unused items back at the bank before sitting on the fountain. She tried extra hard to tune out the disgusting thing these... people called... music.

I hate cities. She thought to herself.

Back in the square, the young mage looked around for a moment before beelining towards the bard, slipping through the crowd, made easier with her slender frame. Jilianna saw her coming and finished up her song, setting the guitar beside her.

"Show's over, folks. Sad to say, I have other business to attend to." Jili explained, tipping her hat to the crowd. With a few "Aww"s, the crowd began to disperse, save for the young mage, who came up beside her. "So, Lapi, did you have everything you needed?" She asked the mage, whistling at her alpaca briefly. The mount just chewed on some grass and remained sitting.

"I've told you a thousand times not to call me that, Jilianna." Lapita said, wincing slightly. "But, yes, your ingredients were fine. Thank you again."

"Oh, it was no problem! Always willing to help out the youngin's!" Jilianna said cheerfully, slinging her guitar over her shoulder and whistling again at her mount. Again, the alpaca just sat there.

"I'm only a year younger than you..." Lapita mumbled, the older Bard not paying attention.

"Steve's being temperamental today." Jili sighed, turning her attention back to her companion. "So! Have you tried it out yet? Where do you need to go? What do we need to kill? Are squirrels involved? I have a bad history with squirrels...."

"No, no, I haven't tried it yet. Decided to come to you first in case something went wrong." She said hesitantly, taking the mysterious potion out of her bag.

"Well, then, let's get somewhere a little less crowded. Don't want to cause to much attention." Said the woman who was currently trying to force an alpaca up while wearing a giant purple hat and matching Bard outfit.

Norallyn put all her attention on listening in to the conversation. So it seems that a mage was getting help gathering her ingredients, that made sense. However the bottle was another matter, just what was it that made it dangerous to be around others? She hmm'ed and stood up, brushing dirt from her purple robes. There was still time to follow after them and spy on what that mixture was. The mage needed something to make sure she kept up with them. Picking up her pace she made her way to the Church, where her grunpy Alpaca was stabled. While the church stables were off limits to everyone who wasn't clergy, Norallyn was lucky to have a friend on the inside.

"Helvetica, are you in here?" Norallyn called out.

Walking in a little further into the weirdly spotless stable she caught a glimpse of light pink cleric robes. The cleric she found had dark blue hair cut short to curl under her ears and piercing yellow eyes.

"The high priest is getting suspicious of there being an extra Alpaca in the stables. You might not want to come back to Aven for a while so he forgets how many there are again." The Cleric spoke in a bored tone.

The grumpy Alpaca's rope was tied around his neck and held by Helvetica. He made a sort of grating deep in his throat at the mage, who returned with a roll of her eyes. Taking the rope from her friend Norallyn returned back to the square, hopeful the Bard and Mage hadn't left yet. However her Alpaca, Flopsy had another idea as he stopped dead in his tracks. She gritted her teeth and turned a glare on him. If any distractions were going to happen it would always be Flopsy who brought them upon her.

"Don't even dare, I will sooner feed you disgusting poor Alpaca hay then let you stop me from doing this."

Flopsy stared unblinking at her until he huffed and sat down. The mage was seething on the inside and the audacity that was her Alpaca. Out of all the ones she could have picked, Flopsy had to be the one to accompany her. Sighing Norallyn calmed herself down, thinking of a way to make her Alpaca move. Shrugging her shoulders she dropped the robe she was holding and turned her back to him.

"Fine if you want to stay here then stay here. I didn't have problems traveling before you and I won't start having any now." She told him.

Leaving him there she made her way back to where she last saw the two before her little mishap. her lips quirked into a smirked when she heard the familiar sound of hooves following behind her.

[Helvetica is another character I have on the Aqua server. She's not a character I will play. She is Norallyn's "friend" and she will be reference by Nora on some occasions, she can be called upon for help if needed. (She's level 50. with level 50 cleric, 47 bard, and 34 Shaman, and 28 knight.) if needed I'll make a sheet for her or a page on the Wiki whatever helps.]

[Nah, don't worry about it. If you're not going to play her and she's on another server anyway, there's no need for a sheet.]

After managing to get Steve up again, the odd pair started heading away from the crowds, towards the northern shore of the city. It was a nice little area, but practically no one visited it due to the lack of shops or landmarks. They stopped at a gazebo, and Lapita set the potion down while Jilianna tied up Steve. Lapita took out the paper covered in ancient writing once more, and began re-reading the instructions. Jilianna glanced around the area, knowing that someone was following them, and slung her guitar off of her back. After checking some of the strings, she set it down against the gazebo's low fence, just in case she needed it quickly. She didn't know why they were being followed or who was following them, but years of experience had taught her to be wary.

"Okay, I think I know what to do. Some of the words seem strange for this purpose, but as long as I stick to the exact written spell it should work." Lapita said, not noticing Jili's tense demeanor. She didn't get a chance to, either, because as soon as Lapita spoke up Jilianna turned back to her normal, cheery self.

"Great! Now you should be able to find him in no time at all!" Jili cheerfully replied, leaning up against the gazebo, staying beside her guitar. "Now, I'll be right here if something goes haywire. I tried to get the best, freshest ingredients, but those ancients were some crazy people."

Lapita nodded, looked at the lavender flask in her hand, and sighed. She looked over the paper one last time, making sure she had the spell right, then set it down. She popped off the cork in the flask, took a whiff of the oddly aromatic potion, and took a drink. Quickly, she set the potion down, swallowed the concoction, and began reciting the spell she had so painstakingly memorized. A pale violet magic circle that was strange even to Jilianna lit up beneath the young mage, rapidly twirling beneath her. Her eyes began to glow in the same fashion, and wisps of magic circled around her as she continued to recite the spell. She seemed to be in a deep trance, barely thinking about the words now as they seamlessly flowed from her. Three bands of ancient writing formed and circled around her, glowing with the same kind of unique magic as the magic circle. After she finished chanting she remained in that state for a little over a minute, magic still actively encompassing her, then, suddenly, everything stopped. She collapsed to the ground on her knees, Jilianna rushing over to grab her before she toppled completely over.

I hate doing delivery missions... He mumbled to himself...

Wearing light attire and running at high speed amongst the crowd, the loud whistling coming from the guards that were chasing him meant Evo was in town.

Damn police guys, wont let a man do his mission in peace He said as he disappeared from in front of the guard that was trying to catch him...

~He looked for the first tree he could climb up to and took a seat~ I wonder where that stupid guild office is anyway... i Wanna go back to Beluga...

While looking through the city, he noticed there was an empty, crowd less spot in the town. He couldn't make it out very well but there was 2 people there, one holding the other in her arms...

Maybe i should go help...Obeying his brotherly instinct [and not necessarily referring to Lapita in any way] he wondered if his mission was worth risking just to help out two strangers...

This is aven, there's probably lots of doctors and people that could help them out... I just wanna get out of this boring place

And with that he disappeared from the tree and set out to look for the guild office...

While on his way he noticed someone, a Mage with beautiful light orange hair... He decided to walk slower to try and get a better glimpse of her...

Wow, she's beautiful... he thought...

«Looks like I finally arrived! » Elexa said to herself. She had finally arrived in Aven after days of walking and sailing on a raft. She was so proud of herself, until she saw the “travel center” and understood she could have used this to go from Tranquil Hill to Aven instead of walking.

«Why do these things always happen to me? » she sighed, but she comforted herself «No time for crying! And besides, even if I would have known, I was broke so I wouldn’t have been able to pay the fee, so it’s okay! ». It was then that she thought about the jobs that she took. The ones that involved battles were quite fast and easy, since in the blink of an eye either the quest was finished, or she revived and had to continue the job (the second option was the worst for her, since she is scared of soul guardians). However, the delivery jobs were not as easy, since it took her time before finding out she had a map to help her find the person and when she did not have it, she would end up giving it to someone else by error.

« Wow…» She had stopped in front of a window, starring at the steak an Ursun was eating. Once he noticed her, he went away from the window. « I want meat. » she thought out loud. She took the last silvers she had in her purse to buy a plate.

(*gasp* Tsukumi walked to an island?! SHE'S JESUS. :O)

Jilianna tried to wake her up via shouting, slapping, and even shaking, but to no avail. Lapita was out cold. She sighed and hoisted the mage up over her shoulder with surprising ease - even though the frail mage was rather light for her age - and draped her over Steve's bare back. She untied the alpaca, patted him on the neck, and started to lead him away by the halter. He obediently followed, which pleasantly stunned Jilianna, and the trio began heading back towards the square, where they would be able to find an inn to stay the night. Jili had been eager to help out her younger friend in her personal quest, as it provided relief from the typical find-and-kill-so-and-so-monster(s) requests she accepted from villages all over Diaspora. That, however, would have to wait until Lapita woke up and told her where they would be going first.

Passing through the square, she noticed a hungry looking girl creeping in front of a window, weirding out the innocently eating Ursun inside. Noticing the rather pitiful amount of silver in the girl's hand - which wouldn't have been nearly enough for anything decent in this town - Jili sighed and walked over. She reached into her pocket and pulled out several gold and silver pieces, and before the girl could protest, she shoved the coins into her hand.

"There you go! Treat yourself to something nice." She cheerfully said, giving her a quick wink before turning and starting to walk away with Steve in tow.

[Lol i thought the same thing as Jili OMGAH we keep doing it xD]

Why does the Guild Officer have to be so formal...

Evo mumbled to himself as he walked out of the Guild manager and grabbing new missions to help out the citizens at Golden Plains... He knew it wasnt Beluga but still it was nicer than being in a Huge town or Volcano-based village...

I just want to get out here, why is it so difficult

To the left of the Guild Office was a small Restaurant with some nice smelling food

Hmmm.. I might pick up a steak or two He thought as he saw a small girl entering rapidly into the less-than-3 star gourmet. Before he could react he saw a Bard walking with an Alpaca, a fragile looking girl laying on the Alpacas back...

It's those girls i saw when i was looking for the office He thought as he tried to catch up to them...

Lightly patting the Female Bard on the shoulder, he asked while smiling:

Hello there, do you need any help? I know this place like the back of my hand... As he glanced at the girl that was seemingly unconscious on the Alpaca.

«Three steaks and a large glass of milk please!» Elexa said as soon as she entered the building with the coins a female bard shoved in her hand. « People here are very nice! No wonder this town is so popular!» she thought as she was gulping down big peices of steak so quickly she almost looked scary. Little time had passed and she had already finnished her plate «It may not be seasonned boar meat of Tranquil Hill, but it's still pretty good.» she tought to herself as she gave the money to the waiter. It was then that she thought about the little memory se had. The castle where she woke up, the theives, the zumi farmers who gave her shelter and the weird black tatoo she had on her tongue.

«Hey, is it the bard with the coins? and who's the guy she's talking to?» she came back to reality as she saw the girl who gave her money not so long ago talking to a male thief. «I should go thank her for the money!» she went to go see the bard, but she stopped at the glance of a poster on a building.

«Wow! I didn't know she was talking to a celebrity! Look at the poster! They made a good profile of him and the fact that there are posters everywhere must mean he is really popular. I'll ask him an autograph in the mean time!» she continued her walk with a pencil in her hand, comming loudly.

(OOC: Sorry Evo if you thought you could go back away in secrecy. Now you better have an escape plan. MUAHAHAHA!)

[I never helped Jili, i just offered help and i am a friendly thief who doesn't really steal, i just run and travel a lot, the reason that Aven police hates me is because i am unorthodox, not because i am a criminal]

I was standing there, holding the bards shoulder waiting for a reply when suddenly something pulled from my scarf... After turning i saw a little hunter girl with a big smile, in her other hand was a pencil...

~Hey mister, you're Evo right? Can i have your autograph?~ Said the girl, who was not as little as she seemed...

What's all this about? Why would you want my autograph huh? What's your name?

~My name is Elexa and i want your autograph because you look famous! You're photo is everywhere!~

I glanced at her face for a second and felt no Malice from her so i took her pencil gently and started writing

"M..." Upon seeing that letter i quickly came to my senses and turned the page sideways, now it was E-V-O... (What was i thinking i though for a sec)

There you go Elexa! I don't see why you want this but if it makes you happy, then my mission is complete!!

I turned to see that the Bard and Mage were now walking away slowly, and in my mind he was determined to catch up to them, the mage in particular caught my interest in an unusual way...

Had to be a mage right... And started to walk...
